Safeguarding Policy Statement

 

Bramley Baths recognises the unique status of children and its responsibility to protect them at all times. Bramley Baths is required to foster relationships of the highest integrity, truthfulness and trustworthiness. Those in Bramley Baths who have positions of authority over children must use their responsibility with sensitivity and integrity. Bramley Baths acknowledges its duty to act appropriately to any allegations, reports or suspicions of abuse.

 

Bramley Baths affirms that children have the right:

  • to grow up in a safe, secure, stable and caring environment.

  • to be protected from all forms of harm, including neglect, abuse and exploitation.

  • to be listened to and heard.

  • to grow up having their cultural and racial background and experience valued and respected.

  • to be considered as individuals with particular needs.

  • to be given opportunities to reach their full potential.

 

Bramley Baths affirms that adults have the responsibility:

  • to ensure that children are protected at all times.

  • to provide a safe, secure and caring environment.

  • to provide support, encouragement and stimulation to enable each child to reach his or her full potential.

 

Bramley Baths affirms and accepts the principle and intention of the Children Act 1989 that the welfare of the child is paramount at all times.

 

In implementing this child protection policy Bramley Baths will:

  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers working with children are carefully selected and supervised.

  • ensure that all workers understand their legal and moral responsibility to protect children and young people from harm, abuse and exploitation

  • require those working with children to adhere to safe working practices and the standards detailed in Bramley Baths Safeguarding procedures.

  • Give due regard to health and safety issues.

  • Ensure that all workers understand their duty to report concerns that arise about a child or young person, or a worker’s conduct towards a child / young person to the Bramley Baths Designated Safeguarding Lead.

  • Ensure that the Designated Safeguarding Lead understands  his / her responsibility to refer Safeguarding  concerns to the statutory child protection agencies (i.e Police and / or Social Work)

  • Report any allegations of abuse against children, whether or not involving trustees, staff or volunteers, immediately to the appropriate authorities and provide appropriate training for the trustees, staff and volunteers.

  • Organisations who use Bramley Baths premises or partners in delivering joint services to agree to these practices.

  • Allow parents and carers access to guidelines and procedures on request

  • Endeavour to keep up to date with national developments relating to the welfare and Safeguarding of children and young people
