About the event
Step back in time and discover the herbal remedies that were once part of everyday life in Bramley. Before modern medicine became widely available, families relied on the healing power of plants to care for common ailments, creating herbal oils, syrups, vinegars and other home remedies using ingredients gathered from gardens and hedgerows.
In this relaxed and welcoming workshop, you'll explore a selection of traditional herbal preparations and learn about the plants that supported health and wellbeing in the early 1900s. Along the way, we'll uncover the stories behind these remedies and the role they played in caring for families and communities.
As well as learning about local herbal traditions, there'll be plenty of opportunity to share memories, family stories and conversations, connecting the history of Bramley Baths with the rich heritage of community care.
No previous knowledge is needed—just bring your curiosity and enjoy an afternoon of history, plants…
