About the event
Discover the art of traditional herbal medicine making in this practical, hands-on workshop inspired by the history of health, wellbeing and community care. As part of Bramley Baths' heritage programme, we'll explore how people once relied on seasonal plants, gardens and shared knowledge to support everyday health before modern medicine became widely available.
Using herbs from the garden and other locally sourced ingredients, you'll make your own fire cider – a warming herbal vinegar tonic that has been passed down through generations as a traditional folk remedy for the colder months. Along the way, you'll learn about the history of the ingredients, their traditional uses, and the simple techniques behind creating herbal preparations at home.
The workshop will be led by Matilya, a professional horticulturalist and plant lover based in Leeds. Specialising in therapeutic and community gardening and medicinal plants, Matilya spends her time creating meaningful connections between plants and people,…
