About the event
Your hair shouldn't be a barrier to getting in the water.
An event exploring and celebrating Afro and curly hair, swimming and the barriers that have historically kept Black communities out of the water.
Delivered in partnership with Hair by Rhonda and supported by SOUL CAP.
We’ll begin with an interactive workshop exploring hair care, protective styles and practical advice for swimming, alongside conversations about Black people’s relationship with water, historic exclusion, representation and pioneering Black swimmers.
Then, if you fancy it, it’s time to put it into practice!
We will have SoulCap’s available for you to use for the swim. There will be plenty of time to change, shower and get pool-ready before we head into the beautiful historic Bramley Baths for a relaxed community swim.
