From Wednesday 6th of November, we will be commencing structural works on our gable end. The planning process has been ongoing for almost a year as we conducted in depth inspections, consulted with conservation experts and Leeds City Council, leading to tendered for the work to be completed. This has been a lengthy process, however, we are now pleased to announce that the necessary structural work will be completed over the coming 6 weeks. All work has been fully approved by conservation planning and building control officers at Leeds City Council and is a necessary repair to the existing structure.Â
In order for this work to be carried out we will be erecting scaffolding on the interior wall mirroring the scaffolding that is already on the external wall. Full access to communal changing areas and all cubicles will still be available, and all services will continue as normal, as most of the work will be carried out overnight.
For our swimming lesson spectators (parents and carers), the near side of the balcony (the area directly above the main entrance onto pool) will be strictly out of bounds. There will however be seating available on the opposite side of the balcony, which will only be accessible via the spiral stair case situated at the deep end side of the pool. We would request that parents and/or carers, limit the amount of spectators on the balcony whilst swimming lessons are on to avoid congestion and overcrowding as much as we can.
We would like the members and visitors for your continuing support and we ask for patience whilst we conduct this essential work to ensure the longevity of the Baths and our heritage asset.
