Welcome to the third instalment of our new blog, sharing the progress of our #Morethanapool project, exploring and securing Bramley Baths (BB) for the future.
Latest news

#Morethanapool continues at pace with its multiple strands running alongside each other during phase one. October has been a busy month. Community activity continued with fun and educational activities during half term for young visitors, exploring the science behind how BB was built and imagining a BB of the future using everyone’s favourite, LEGO! And we’re starting to explore the expertise needed to restore and protect the physical building.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Liz Moss as the Project Director. Liz will oversee and lead #Morethanapool and brings a wealth of experience to role, having led major National Lottery Heritage Fund projects and managed complex heritage and cultural developments. These include her role as Chief Executive of the new Blackpool Heritage and Museum Trust, and leading the opening of the £20M, multi-award-winning Windermere Jetty Museum. Liz has run several leading visitor attractions and contributed to national cultural initiatives in the North West, in roles with the National Trust, Cumbria Tourism, the Lake District World Heritage application team, and Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds.
Liz says ‘I’m thrilled to be supporting Bramley Baths and #Morethanapool, combining my passion for heritage conservation with the energy of a community that truly brings this historic building to life every day. It’s a gorgeous opportunity”.
Welcome aboard, Liz!
Coming up…
A key aim of #Morethanapool is connecting people with our heritage and everything we offer. Following the success of the new Bramley Farmers Market, we are collaborating with the organisers and hosting the first BB Christmas Fair! High numbers of local people and visitors will be out and about on 16 November, and our event will support local makers and attract people to BB to explore the building and what we offer the community.
We’re starting to explore #Morethanapool’s capital works programme with experts coming on board, for example to research the stories behind our iconic stained glass and help us protect it for the future. And we have been shortlisted for a ‘Community Heritage’ award at the Locality Convention '25, a new category supported by Historic England to celebrate community organisations that have used a heritage building or space to improve the lives of their community.
So our exciting project is truly up and running, and this is only the start! With so much more to come over the next 18 months and beyond, we hope you’ll come with us and share this journey.
Follow our progress on our social media, at BB, and of course on this blog. And as always, all comments and suggestions are welcome and if you have a connection to BB and a story to share, I’d love to hear from you.
Until next time….
